Almost Hatched!
They are almost here!!! The cocoons have been carefully transferred to the butterfly container and two orange slices have been added in case they hatch over the weekend.

Cocoons Unite!
Hey there! I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in a couple of days. The classroom has been nuts! But, we have some exciting updates on our butterflies! Here are some pictures and videos from the last few days.

So Yummy!
We read a story today called Jalapeño bagels. As a fun alternative to writing the answer to Question #5 in the book (which is a question that shows up on the test), I gave my kiddos the option to try to make the Jalapeño bagels at home. They were tasked with taking pictures, a video or sending in a sample the following day as proof that they were a part of the process. I have received several samples, videos and pictures and even some reports that document the sequence of events in creating these yummy treats. Here is a picture of the first sample I received!

Grow Cattys Grow!
Our caterpillars are growing so fast! My students predicted today that the caterpillars are going to start forming their chrysalises sometime early next week. I’d say I agree. I just hope they wait until the kids are back in the classroom on Tuesday to do anything cool.
Apparently we’ve named the 5 little guys. They are Topsy, Turvy, Rose, Lucy and Peanut. Don’t ask me which one is which, because I have NO CLUE.
Here are some pictures of the caterpillars throughout the week. Day 3 of watching them grow:
