Raise Up Your Wings!

Believe it or not, I have never done this ever in my life. I have never raised butterflies. I’ve never actually seen a real live caterpillar before either. Is that crazy or what?

During this unit in science, I am teaching (and learning!) about lifecycles. We’ve done some pretty fun activities so far but I think my favorite is today when I walked into my classroom to find 5 LIVE CATERPILLARS on my desk. In a container of course.

When my kids got into the classroom, as they unpacked their bags from the weekend’s homework, I gave them a chance to look at the little fellas. We were all so excited! I can’t wait to see the caterpillars grow into cocoons and then flourish into butterflies. Just in time for spring.

Seeing these little creatures crawl all around their little home made me think about how amazing my life is. To be able to give kids the opportunity to learn about these beautiful living organisms is an amazing feeling. I love my life as a teacher and I don’t ever want to give it up!
